Xbox 360 holds a lead over the PS3 by 1 million in Europe

The Xbox 360 is currently leading over the PS3 by around one million lifetime sales across five major European territories - the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, [Only registered users can see links. ] that shows like-for-like sales of console hardware across October and November. The figures also show lifetime installed base figures, which indicate the one million lead. It’s not looking good for Sony.


The 360’s early launch gave it a lead to begin with, and a steady decrease in cost hasn’t hurt either. Europe isn’t the only one with a preference for the Xbox 360: in October, [Only registered users can see links. ] for the first time. As for sales in the U.S., [Only registered users can see links. ], where the 360 outsold the PS3 by a three-to-one ratio, if we’re to believe what we’re told. If I keep buying 360's at the rate I have been (in an attempt to find a working one lol) then sales figures should be just fine for a while yet .

I'm really not shocked by the figures. As I game store addict, I spend a lot of time going from game store to game store looking at the same thing but, I see a lot of 360 sales and a lot of PS3's sitting on the shelves. Its pretty obvious why though - at Christmas, if you're a parent and have the choice between a 360 or an overpriced toaster oven that can play 'Bluray' (and how many people would know what that is? How many parents are going to buy a bluray player for their kids anyway.....how much are those BR movies again? How much is it going to cost if those kids actually want a BR movie? ), what are you going to buy your kids?

Doesn't really surprise me either. As QueenB said, if you're a parent and you want to buy your kid a console for Christmas it would be beneficial to buy the 360. They're cheaper, more fun (yes i'm a fangirl ) and it means more Christmas presents can be bought so the kid has more to open on Christmas day. . Even though Sony say they are now bringing the price of the PS3 down, I still think they are too expensive and you made me 'lol' QueenB when you said it is an 'overprice toaster oven'.
