Also I didn't think about themes. I have a Sonic theme for the current dashboard, are they going to update them?

The themes/gamerpics work perfectly. Your wallpapers still show up, but they don't change with each menu you scroll though. They show up when you open different submenus.
Avatars don't replace gamerpics. You can just use your avatar as a gamerpic if you want.
And it reminds me nothing of the XMB.
