"3 Red Lights Of Death" Fragile 360s?

My friends done that so he wrapped it up in ablanket and left it switched on... The heat caused the solder to melt back into place and problem solved! Think i'd rather send it back tho...

Ive never tried that, i just take it apart and put new clips on... but ive only had to replace them 1 time.... LOL I PUT METAL CLIPS IN SO IT DOES NOT MELT...

that's not technically correct. the problem is overheating but it's not any thing to do with motherboard clips, it's the GPU ( graphics chip )
the overheat causes the solder to melt and the GPU prises away from the board. you can do a X-CLAMP repair where you physically bolt the chip back to the board then overheat it again to force the solder to melt and flow back into all the nooks and crannies. but it's no way 100 percent reliable

My 360 has died twice in the past year. The second time being a couple of days ago.

Yes, mine died today, but not with the red ring of death, only one segment red rather than 3 and therefore is not covered.. so to get it repaired will cost me money and time.. so the other half is buying a new one tomorrow and is going to pay to get the older one fixed after the new year..

Totally, still broke, but to get it fixed they'll charge about £70.. I wouldnt be too fussed if we just sent it off to get fixed instead of buying a new one, if it werent for the fact it's our dvd player too.. and in the flats I live in, the communal aerial is broken, so we have channels 1-4, nothing else, no movies and no xbox.. on the plus side, other half is going out to get a new one tomorrow.. as he's got like 6 days off and was planning on playing cod5..

I got the RROD and fixed it with the towel trick. But it doesnt work for long and each time you do it the time which it stays fixed gets less and less.
