| 360Gamer© ![]() | Ok, so most of you will know that, you can now play AVI/DivX files on the 360. Some of you might know how to do this though. I have to admit, I only learnt how to do it myself yesterday ![]() Best thing is, it's so simple, I'm amazed I didnt realise sooner how to do it. Most of you probably wont have any avi files on your 360 HDD, so you'll need to burn avi files to disk, or put them on a flash drive. Once you've done that, pop the disk in, or plug the USB Device in. Next step is to go to the Media blade and select Videos. It will probably say, no video files found if you havent got any on the HDD unless you've downloaded trailers etc. To find the avi files, you'll need to press X and change the storage device to either the portable device (flash drive) or CD. It will then show the AVI files. Before you can play the files, you'll need to download the codecs update so you'll need to be connected to live. It's the same small patch for the ipods to play, so if you've got that you're all ready to go. Just press play and watch your video(s) |

| Another way to do it is.. If you're on windows, download Windows Media Player 11. Open it up, and go to Tools, i think, and then Media Sharing. Turn your Xbox 360 on, sign into live(Make sure your PC and Xbox are on the same router of course ). Click enable media sharing, then it'll show you which devices your'e allowed to share to. Your 360 should be on the list (It has to be on, and on live for this step) highlight it, and click "Allow". Then, place any movies you want to watch into the "My Videos" folder. Then, on the 360, go to the Media blade, go to Videos, hit X, and select your PC. Then, all your videos will be there. This allows you to stream videos from your pc to your xbox, but sometimes can be laggy if you have heavy network load. but, the pros to this is no conversion or external storage is needed. I hope you don't see this as me trying to steal the thread, just trying to help my fellow gamers out by showing you guys one of the lesser-known ways of watching movies. ![]() For Linux users, sudo apt-get install ushare ![]() | ||||||||

| 360Gamer© ![]() | Nah, not stealing the thread at all lol ![]() Tried that myself, well, ages ago anyway, before avi was supported ( ) was ok, but, prefer just shoving it on USB myself. I found it to be a big hassle last time I tried, but, I think that's cuz I couldnt get WMP 11, and didnt have a media centre pc, so took ages to do lol. |
