360?

I've been thinking about getting a 360 for ages, but i couldn't afford it

But I've just got a bonus from work (mystery shopped twice in 2 months, passed both times = £200 voucher each time if pass ). So i've got £400 to spend in any shop that takes high street vouchers. Should I get a 360 with this?
Are the failure rates really that high?
Should I get a diff system? (I have a ps2, psp and ds phat)
What starter games would you recommend? i like fps/tps/action/adventure/platform/puzzle.

I held off on getting a 360 for so long. I had a PS2 (still do) and PSP and Id always been a Sony girl. I couldnt afford a 360 either but, I had the chance to buy one and I did (although it took me weeks to actually do it ). I LOVE MY 360!!! Ever since I got it Ive been totally addicted to it. I got a few games with it to start with but it was when I got Gears of War that I really couldnt leave it alone . For starter games Id suggest Call of Duty 4, its the game that I spend most of my time playing (whether you have online play or not its a great game). Depends if you like the genre though. Id also suggest Halo 3 (better if you have online play). Orange Box is great value too as is Dead Rising (cheap enough to get now). Assassins Creed is pretty awesome if you like that kind of game. I tend to wait until games are available pre owned in the stores and preferably on a buy one get one free/half price offer, thats the beauty of getting a 360 now - plenty of top games already released and cheaper than they were .

As for failure rates........Ive had mine since September, no probs at all. We have 2 360's in our flat now and the other hasnt had a problem either. I'm pretty confident with my 360 in that way, Microsoft seem to have gotten better since the early days of building the 360........fingers crossed.

Sorry, I waffled . I had the PS3, I had the Wii, I sold them both, the 360....love it. Thats all I needed to say perhaps lol.

Go for the 360, I love mine, never had a problem with it either.

I remember I wanted a PS3, but as soon as I was about to grab one at the store I just stopped. I thought about it for only about 5 secs, and I decided on a 360 instead >.< I've never regretted that choice.
There's been so many 360 exclusives that I love, and only a couple PS3 ones I'm interested in. Though eventually I may get a PS3, I still believe the 360 reigns supreme

I've been looking at the preowned games and there's some pretty good deals
I've played Halo 2 on my cousin's xbox and loved it. One of the reasons I am looking at getting the 360, for Halo 3.
I don't think I'd get Gears though, just wait for the second one, unless I needed to play the first one?

I've seen Assassin's Creed get mixed reviews but it does appeal to me

I'm also wanting GTA IV, so I'll have to get a 360 or a PS3. The only people I see supporting the PS3 are fanboys though . But, the only thing that puts me off the 360, is really, the failure rates. But there's a 3 year warranty against RROD correct?

I'd have to get internet at my house before I could get live. I have to go to my friend's house for net access at the moment.

Yeah I agree with Dizzy and Queen, I LOVE my 360 and mine crapped out after about a year...I sent it in and they sent me back another one in 2 weeks...no big deal at all. I have a PS3 also and honestly I only have it for Final Fantasy and Resistance. If you do get one you def need to get Gears of War (the second one is a continuation) and Halo is fun online...but I liked Halo 2's single player more...I thought 3 was too easy..that may just be me tho...I would def get a 360 I mine

Haven't bough one myself yet but if you do decide to go for a ps3 this place seems to be doing them and it looks quite reasonable too...

That is quite a good price. Dunno if they reliable though. But nah, dont bother with the PS3, get the 360!!!

The PS3 was the only next gen console I wanted........it was the last one I got (damn UK release dates ), but, also the first one I sold. I never played it, only wanted it for Tekken. And same with wii, hardly played it.
Where as 360, ok at first, I hardly played it, but since getting live, i play it at least 5/7 times in a week
98% of the games out are cross platform games, and 99% of the same game, are cheaper on 360 than PS3 . - And that goes with pre-owned games too
The 360 range is much more vast And theres more games which are on 360 and not PS3 that I want (i only wants Tekken 6 on PS3, where as 360, Halo, GOW, Bully)

I'm saving up to get a 360, but there's a part of me that says why not a PS3, even if it is a bit more. But, after reading the posts here, I think I'll definitely be getting a 360

360 and PS3 are great consoles...if you seriously like gaming i suggest the 360...im getting a ps3 soon ...because its a great media centre ...great gaming console...and etc lol
