Will GTA IV's Success Cause Massive Amounts of Xbox 360s to Brick?
Microsoft is certainly trying to push the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV as the best version you could get (what with all money being spent on advertising and some [Only registered users can see links. ]). But while these efforts may drive some people towards the Xbox 360 version, could the game’s imminent success have an adverse affect on the consoles themselves? Gameplayer recently brought up this point, which I’d never considered before, but they make a good case. Basically, GTA IV is undoubtedly going to be one of, if not the, biggest video game launch of the year. That means hundreds of thousands of people will be playing the game, probably for extended periods of time. And if history has taught us anything, it’s that the Xbox 360 really doesn’t handle well under that sort of*heavy use. So could the upcoming spike in people playing on their Xboxes more frequently lead to a huge spike in the number of consoles that break down? Personally, I get a little worried myself when I think I hear my Xbox 360 making a strange noise — other than the usual lawnmower-like sound; that’s normal. Come April 29h though, me and probably thousands of gamers are probably going to sit down for some good, long, quality time with Rockstar’s newest creation. Odds are, more Xbox 360s could suddenly*stop working*around that time than ever before. Of course, this is all speculation at this point, but I certainly hope Microsoft is prepared to relive*last year’s*”Red Ring of Death” debacle all over again.

Unlike Halo 3 where I ummm'd and aaaahhh'd about getting it because of the probs, I'll be getting GTA4 regardless, I will sacrifice my 360 for that game . Should all be ok though, MS should have learned lol.
