Wii NewsDiscuss New Channel From Ninty! in the Nintendo Wii forums; If you’ve got a Plaza bursting with Miis to inspire the world but no where to show them off, then ...
If you’ve got a Plaza bursting with Miis to inspire the world but no where to show them off, then you’ll be pleased to know that Nintendo is launching its Check Mii Out Channel this Sunday, November 11.
The Check Mii Out channel is split into a number of sections. The Posting Plaza allows users to submit, exchange or just browse Miis posted by others in their regions or worldwide. The service also offers the ability to browse the top 1000 Miis, current all-time favourites, and the ability to perform a detailed search for Miis by name, creator or number (given to each character uploaded). Once a player has found the Mii that interests them, they can both mark it as a favourite and download it to their own console.
The contest section of the Check Mii Out Channel challenges users to submit their best creations based upon a specific person, character or theme. Nintendo gives examples such as historical figures (Abraham Lincoln, Vincent Vangoch), fictional character (the Tooth Fairy or the new Year’s Baby) or descriptive themes (”the biggest bully ever” or “the overbearing boss”). Users will then be invited to vote on submitted Miis in order for a winner to be chosen. Contests will last two weeks (one to get creative and another to vote).
“The Check Mii Out Channel allows people show off their Mii creations and vote on those created by others,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “It’s yet another way that we’re building fun, interactive communities of Wii owners without charging them extra for the privilege.”

We certainly welcome the arrival of the Check Mii Out Channel. It isn’t like there have been an abundance of Wii titles that make use of users’ creations, and hopefully it’ll drive Nintendo’s vision of creating a community spirit online on the console. It’ll be available as a free download from WiiWare via the Wii Shopping Channel.
I don't have a creative bone in my body or thumb for that matter
