We know that there are two sides of every story. But in this case, there are now three. We first heard from [Only registered users can see links. ], Rockstar Games, then we heard from [Only registered users can see links. ]... Who's next? It's none other than Nintendo, of course.
GamePolitics is quick on the take. They contacted Nintendo about the licensing of Manhunt 2, and Beth Llewelyn, senior director of Corporate Communications replied with:
Manhunt 2 is not developed or published by Nintendo. It is one of many titles released by third party publishers for our system that appeal to people of all ages and interests. Just as with movies, television, and books, different video games appeal to - and are appropriate for - different audiences. Video game retailers and purchasers are strongly encouraged to follow the age-specific [Only registered users can see links. ] ratings when considering what software to sell or buy. If parents are concerned about kids having access to inappropriate Wii games, we encourage them to utilize the PIN-operated Parental Control features built into Wii.
Good statement, that one. Sort of makes you feel as if Nintendo's got their hands washed clean. They did mention some valid points, all of which are understandable and logical. Nothing excruciatingly incriminating.
Now, that's the third side of the story. Is anyone willing to claim a fourth side to it? We're waiting for [Only registered users can see links. ] to speak up. Maybe he's got something to say about this, now that he's grown up and all. You never know how he turned out...
Very very valid points from Nintendo.
Even though, the Wii is seen as a family console, doesn't mean, that the games should be restricted to games that are suitable for all. If it truly is a family console, then, surely it needs games to cater for everyone in the family too. For the parents to play when the kids are tucked away in bed too.
And like everything, and the other consoles, those games have age restrictions on them. Tis what they're there for

Parents should be monitoring the content that goes in their childs consoles not the console makers themselves. Good for Nintendo. I like Nintendo due to the fact it puts the fun back into games. But a little wonton(sp) violence and mayhem never hurts anyone. Unless you have to go to court and blame your actions on the gaming industry.

Theres more violence on TV...Wii violence? BRING IT ON!!
We aren't all kids and we need our fix of slaughter. Makes life easier to handle - take our frustration out on a game then go out into the real world more balanced and calm
I do have a valid point but, I lost it when I saw Manhunt 2 - I loved the first game and I cant wait for it
