And while Nintendo had yet to say what the updates do, one blogger over at GoNintendo noticed these two specific tweaks to his system:

* The weather channel says that it needs connect 24/7 after I only disabled standby internet .
* The video output stays on with RGB cables in orange mode . This means that any other signal on de video channel(s) on the TV are suppressed.

On a further note, we advise the concerned owners to keep a lookout for Virtual Console and Wii Channels - as these might experience further changes. Hopefully, it might make for more accurate forecasting...
No idea what it's going to do yet but, get ready to update PALs

Explained to someone else that didn't understand by a knowledgable guy on GoNintendo:

"SCART carries RGB video, stereo audio and a variety of other signals over a single connector.

One of these signals indicates the type of video being received, with either 4:3, 16:9 or no video signal. This signal is more often than not used by the receiving device (e.g. your TV) to automatically switch to the appropriate AV input when a signal is present, and if appropriate, switch to widescreen.

For example, say I switch on my DVD player, my TV will automatically switch to the input it’s plugged in to, and I see the DVD picture without having to change anything on the TV. When I switch the DVD player off, the TV returns to the previous channel (e.g. a channel on the tuner or another AV input).

Unfortunately, when Wii is in ‘orange’ mode (i.e. in standby but with WiiConnect24’s Standby Connection enabled), it continues to transmit this switching signal, so the TV is stuck on the input the Wii is connected to (or did until the update).

Phew! Hope that explains it! "

Phew...me too!!!
