GG is forums based not IRC based.

We primarily want our members to be posting and chatting on the site. We do provide an alternative though for quick convos which is the shoutbox.

I have to agree with Ms. Bex on that one. While irc is good for other sites, it doesn't promote posting and activity on a forum.
