Best option imo, is to upgrade to custom firmware.

3.40 OE A is favoured by most, however some newer games will require higher than that.

Im currently using 3.52 M33 - which is custom firmware.
Means i can play isos straight off the mem card, or any UMD games I buy.
Can also play PSX games on 3.52 M33 and homebrew.

I'm gonna be putting a tutorial up later of how to upgrade to it, just off to have my dinner now though lol

You can download PSP and PSX games from here once you reach 25 posts (as well as vids for ya PSP)

PSX games are just another way of saying PS1 games.
So you can download and play all the classics from the PS1

I will find a safe link for 3.52 M33 firmware.
It gives you all the features of 3.52 official firmware, and that of 1.50 (1.50 allowing isos and homebrew - such as emulators)

recovery mode: turn psp off by holding down power button for 5 seconds. then hold down r button and turn psp back on, dont let go of buttons until you see a blue screen(blue for 3.**, black for m33)
this is recovery mode
