I'm so new and clueless!

Please help! I'm desperate!

My husband has just bought a second hand Phat PSP and we just bought a pandora battery.
We would like to make a magic memory stick too.
The official firmware on the Phat PSP is 2.60. We also have Vista on our PC. Can somebody please tell us (in simple language) how to make a magic memory stick and what firmware we need to play backup games.

Well firstly, 2.60 doesn't need a pandora's so you won't need to worry about the memory stick either - although you will need one to able to downgrade.

Thank you for your fast reply...... We are further than this morning thanks to you....except... we followed the guide to uprade to 2.71, the screen went blue then to green. It then restarted, then hubby ran "update xyz" (it wasn't "update x.xy"). After that everything that was meant to happen didn't happen. We don't know if it is on 1.50 because in the system files still says it's on 2.71.

Where have we gone wrong?

Hmm, does it say 2.71 Hen, or just 2.71?

I believe, if I remember correctly, after the green screen and rebooted, in that step it changes the firmware to 2.71 hen.

What happened when update xyz started, or was there an error message, or errm?
(also which 2.71 tut is it you're following? do u have the ta-082 motherboard or not?)

I dont have a ta-082 motherboard. After the screen went green the psp rebooted and when I started the xyz file it just rebooted but didnt do anything no error message nothing. Is there anyway I can make it 2.60 again and start over? Cant find the 260 firmware anywere. I looked at piratebay etc to find it. Just like to start over again incase I've done something wrong.

Ps. the stuff for downgrading 2.71 doesnt work either now. Thanks for yhe quick reply!!!!!

if I start the xyz now it says game could not be started, same happens with the m33 creator

If Game can't be started, it sounds like it didn't go to 2.71 Hen correctly.


Try this step again

Extract the contents of the folder PSP 2.71 Downgrader
into the root directory of your psp. If it say's your overwriting anything click yes to all.

Now disconnect your psp and go to the photo folder.
Go into the folder henC
Your psp should crash and the screen will go red or green.
Red means the homebrew enabler didn't work.
Green means it did.
If you get red. Try Again.
Once it goes green your psp will reboot.

But before doing this step -

Step 4:
Go to the game folder and run the 2.71 generic downgrader(update x.xy).
click ok and stuff and you should be on 1.5

Go to the System Settings on your PSP, and find out what firmware version it says you have. If it says 2.71 Hen (at least thats what I think it should say if i remember correctly ) then continue onto the next step again with the update xyz. And then again, check the firmware version.
If it doesn't show 2.71 HEN..............hmm, i'll think of something else if that's the case lol .

As for going back to 2.60 unfortunately it isn't possible to do that. - That would also be downgrading.
But yeah, let me know what happens when you try again.

Hm... You know, i was kinda thinking she could skip all of that and just jump straight into the Total Newbie Easy installer program. Its what i did with 3 of my friend's psp and they all had diff versions running.

Update: Still no joy with downgrading 2.71 - 1.5 with any of the links. The link from this site couldn't be opened because there was an error. The last link didn't work coz the website was full to capacity or something?

Can you please point me in the direction of the newbie one?

P.S. I forgot, we have Vista on our pc. Does that make a difference?
