On the Xbox 360 version, he explains that it "will absolutely feature natively rendered graphics in 1080p." But of course, after all, they did develop this game, from the characters to the environments, specifically with the next-gen platforms in mind. And having VT3 on Microsoft's next-gen means that it's also gonna be up on Xbox Live. Exciting is how Kaminski describes the experience of playing it on Xbox Live.

You can enter into tournaments or casually challenge people to a single match. I think what really makes the Virtua Tennis 3 online offering so interesting is the VT:TV feature. It's an enhanced version of spectator mode, which serves a couple of great purposes... Secondly, you have the ability to watch the matches of the top one hundred players world wide, or keep an eye on how any of your friends are doing in their matches.

Moving on to Sony's Blu ray of sunshine, he says that it most certainly will feature motion sensing controls. In fact, they are very excited to use the console's SIXAXIS feature for this version. "It's quite cool to play an entire match of tennis without ever pressing a single button on the controller!"

And what of the PSP? Will it essentially be just a lower-resolution version of the console title, or a completely different game, IGN wanted to know. He replies,

The PSP version has been ported from the console version and built to PSP specs. We've included as much of all the original gameplay features and modes as best we could given the hardware's specs. We've also built in ad hoc wi-fi multiplayer functionality... so that friends can play and have fun together.

Oh, and speaking of Sony's babies, Kaminski revealed that connection functionality between the PSP and PS3 was something that they did consider during the early planning stages of the game. However, in the end, they decided to go for the maximization of strengths of the individual platforms.

He also did make mention of the downloadable content and the decision they had to make between this feature and concentrating on the other features such as core gameplay, expanded feature sets in World Tour Mode, the multiplayer mini-games Court Mode, and the SIXAXIS control functionality (for the PS3). In the end, they decided to go for the latter. But he reassures us, "Once you play the game, you'll agree with our choice."

And we're definitely counting on that. Release date for Virtua Tennis 3 is set on March 20 for the U.S. and on March 8 for Japan. As for the demo, he says that its release date is still under discussion.
Virtua Tennis is my favorite tennis game/series - looking forward to it on the PSP - looks fun
