PlayStation Home European Beta is real and starts today

It's been a quick brushfire rumor just a couple of hours back that European [Only registered users can see links. ] users started whispering about getting into a closed Beta trial of [Only registered users can see links. ]. Plenty of people were skeptical at first, especially with pretty cheesy screen captures of the PlayStation Home interface.

But eventually, it seemed that more news about it came up, saying that European PlayStation fans claimed to be selected to [Only registered users can see links. ]. And then, [Only registered users can see links. ] Computer Entertainment [Only registered users can see links. ] ([Only registered users can see links. ]) dropped the hydrogen bomb, stating in an official press release that the PlayStation Home Closed Beta period starts today (May 1), and left the rest of the PlayStation fans ([Only registered users can see links. ]) from other regions drooling. (And us crying.)

It appears that being in the same region as the developers who are working on the PlayStation community software has its advantages. PlayStation Network users in Europe get to try out the software first-hand before the rest of the regions follow suit thereafter as the Beta progresses onward through the summer. Surprisingly, Sony follows through with their PlayStation Home timetable after all, missing the April deadline by a hair's width.
