Blockbusters will then be selling the 40GB for $360 (plus a bundle with an HDMI cable, Spiderman the movie and the Transformers game for $400).

The 40GB PS3 is actually a discontinued model now so this could just be a way of clearing out some stock for Sony but, it's good to see them following the lead of Microsoft and lowering the cost of their consoles in time for Christmas.

Hoping this price drop affects the UK so I can grab a cheap PS3 .

It is better but, if you want a cheap PS3 (I want a cheaper than cheap one ) then this price is awesome and if Sony want to compete with Nintendo and MS for the christmas #1 spot in hardware sales then they need to reduce the price of the better models too .

I got my ps3 on saturday for £299 here in the UK. I got Resistance: Fall of Man and Uncharted Drakes Fortune both free! Still a bit pricey but worth every single penny!
