| GirlGamer Elite ![]() | LMAO A rabbit punch to the eye!! Sorry that's just funny but not when you read further. It's a punch to the neck and/or base of the skull. It can damage vertebre and possibly the spinal cord. It's used to kill rabbits. |

| One of the members in GameBetties asked a question about the Playstation 3 and since I am more of a PS fan than an Xbox fan... this is my PS3 sale pitch for her: (sorry this will be a bit long) Yeah there was an update last night that added an in-game XMB for the Playstation 3. Something we've been waiting for soooo long. Here's an info on the new PS3 XMB: [Only registered users can see links. ] To answer your questions: When you are playing a game multiplayer or singleplayer, can you be talking to your friends at the same time in a private chat? - I heard you can, but I haven't really tried that part yet. I'll see if I can do that tonight. Can you listen to music on the system while you play a game? - from Wired.com "You can browse through your lists of video, music, and photos stored on your PS3 while playing a game, but you can't view them. Some games, however, will support custom soundtracks. You'll turn down the in-game sound volume, open the XMB, and play whatever track you like. Sony said that it will not require developers to add support for custom soundtracks, and did not announce any game that would definitely feature them. (Sony representatives demonstrated the feature running with a specially-programmed version of PixelJunk Monsters.)" Do you have to pay to play online? - Ahhh the best part... NOPE! Can you see what friends are online and what games they are playing? - Yes, when you log on, all of your friends in your list will be visible, both online and offline. Online friends will list what games their currently playing, or where in the PS Network they're at etc etc. You can also view their achievements, an update that is in the very current system update. Does the PS3 have any major problems, like the Xbox has the RROD? - There are problems here and there, but honestly not as major as the RROD. We've returned our PS3 only once and we've had it for 2 years. The only problem we're facing really is if you have a high-def TV, your HD converter has to be compatible with your TV. Right now we can't find that and we have an HD converter that we got from the apple store I think. Once it overheats, it'll just show "no signal" on your screen...so imagine seeing that as you own in COD...kinda frustrating lol. So we have a small fan that faces the TV and cable as we play, and don't have much problem since. Other than that...PS3 is practically the best deal you can find when it comes to consoles. Free Blu-ray player, no monthly fees online, wireless controller that comes with it's own charging cable, unlike xbox's wireless where you have to buy a separate charger or just waste money buying batteries, wireless network ready AND...it's processor is powerful enough that you can help out Stanford University's disease research by downloading [Only registered users can see links. ] <- click on the link to know more about it. Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved. The US military (Air Force) also uses PS3's processor to use for Lab projects and complex mathematical equations. Pretty cool eh? Now after all this... I should be paid by SONY for promoting their product LOL --- Then again that info was mainly focused on someone who doesn't know much about PS3's features. But it may help save that PS3 of yours from the hands of ebay ![]() oh and another reason to keep PS3... MGS4 and Blu-ray But in my opinion... it's your choice ![]() | ||||||||

| Beginner ![]() | imo people really need to stop going on about the blu-ray. for under £50 you can get an upscaling dvd player that'll play anything in 1080p, saving you having to re-buy your film collection. the blu-ray is not the best reason to keep the ps3 and, even with the latest update, it's still way behind the 360 in function. but, give it cross game invites, cross game voice chat, custom soundtracks for all games (especially racers as most come with the worst selection of tunes), auto demo install and a faster bd drive so we don't have to keep dumping great chunks of data on our hdd then it'll be getting there. with this gen of consoles constantly being updated it is far too early to ditch any of the systems. with luck we'll have some more worthy exclusives by the end of the year and another fw update to claw some ground back from the 360. and besides, it's a lot easier to have a chat with 3 friends on ps3 while your playing worms on psp than it is making sure everyone's got the same game on 360 to sit in a lobby. now if only the 360 had 4 way chat ![]() |
