PS3 Games Must Have Trophies

All PS3 games [Only registered users can see links. ] support the Trophy system starting in January, 2009. That’s a mandate straight from Sony (“Yes from Jan 09 all games must have trophies”), so no publishers will be able to opt out.


[Only registered users can see links. ], if you’re not familiar, are the PS3 equivalent of Achievements on the Xbox 360. You get a trophy every time you accomplish some amazing feat. Beat every level, collect every item, etc. It’s a lazy way to add replayability, to invent a word, to a game. Even World of Warcraft [Only registered users can see links. ] them now.

I thought being copied was a from of a compliment?

I love the trophies! You get such a sense of satisfaction when you view your collection! Although atm mine isn't massive!!!!!!

Is the 360 better? I played on my cousins for a bit and wasn't keen but obviously I didn't get an overall impression. Sony has been a bit behind on trophies since the 360 already had them to start off with!

Well, the PS3 was the only next gen console I wanted, and the xbox 360 the least. But I sold my PS3, and love my xbox 360 .

Each game I wanted, was out on the 360 as well as the PS3, and I wanted achievement points . Now we have trophy whores as well, probably the same people who bashed xbox 360 achievement points lol. I love Halo and Gears as well now, so I'm glad I've got my 360 . I wouldn't mind trying Resistance 2, or LBP, but, I'm happy enough with my 360, so why bother . It would just collect dust if I had another PS3, like my old one did.

I've never tried those actually, I'd like to see what they're like. And the ps3 has some good new additions atm, like LBP as you mentioned. It looks really good. My boyfriend is getting it for Christmas so I think I might steal it to play!!!!

I have a few problems with Microsoft in the past and present, regarding their greed motivation.

I have my reasons why I do not like Microsoft
but have recently been contemplating buying an Xbox360

Flash and dash my friend I have a problem with Sony putting out a blu-ray player and calling it a PS3. I don't like MS much either to be honest. But I flash and dash and have never felt better about buying a 360
