Sony, what have you done? This is us now hammering through Super Stardust HD, again, because we now get Trophies! Fine, because the thrill of seeing that pop-up in the top right hand corner brings back memories of when we first started on the 360.

But you had to go one better, didn't you? You had to introduce the RPG element, the levelling system, the thing that's going to make us stay up late, miss work, get into debt and lose our homes! It's simple, but oh so clever, and we love you for it.

Fantastic, utterly brilliant, and more than we ever wished for. Now we'll be replaying all our old games, desperately aiming for that elusive Platinum every time. This will help shift PS3 versions of multi-format games, it will invigorate the market and it will create a competition amongst Friends bigger than any quick match of FIFA.

We're in love, after one date. Thank you, Sony.
im just updating now, but this leveling system does interest me, no offense to 360 owners (iam one myself) but points never did anything for me. atleast a gamer leveling system is a step up. who knows what they will do with it, but atleast your gaining something for your profile.

Yup, seems like a good idea. I think MS are about to do something similar too .

just finished the update, the gamer card thingo looks pretty interesting with a few pages and different tally's.

it would be realy good for 360 to add more depth to them too, gamer card thingos are a good idea, if only they could use their powers for good!... wait... wrong movie?

something no one seems to have picked up on with these trophies and levels is that in the background used by the devs is a certain number of points that they allocate to each trophy with there being a differing maximum amount of points to allocate depending on if it is a full retail release or a psn title.
say, for instance, retail games getting a 1000pts worth of trophies and psn games get 200pts worth and they may make every 20pt trophy a bronze, 50pt silver etc, as was said in an interview with one of the sony bods just before they rolled out. we don't see that side of it we just get the trophies but look at it like that and all of a sudden this trophy system starts to look very familiar.
they are no different than the gamerpoints on the 360, all ms would need to do is say you've got 1000pts you're no level 1, earn another 2000pts you're now level 2 just as sony are doing but there is no need. what they all really need to do is ditch them as they don't mean a thing.

they are one and the same, and i'm pretty sure they'll be just as big as cash cow for sony as they are to ms, i just pray to god nintendo stay well away

I like earning the trophies but I feel that people will begin to brag about how many trophies they've got and possibly what level they are in future.
