As featured on the Japanese site Impress, Taito is currently promoting a DS title which aims to teach proper manners and etiquette to the local, DS-toting, female population. Titled My Happy Manner Book (Watashi no Happy Manner Book), this project was supervised by lecturers who specialize on business etiquette. It all may not sound like much, but we figured that this may be a good title to get if you're considering a business trip to Japan and you want to acquaint yourself with local social rules first, and make a good first impression.

Gameplay-wise, it starts up with the round-headed Makimoto telling your fortune for the day, and indicating things like your lucky color or lucky item (whether this Makimoto character also reveals winning lottery numbers remains to be seen). After that, the game proper starts, and the player is presented with various situations which require her to select the appropriate response. As the game moves along and good manners are successfully applied, the story also progresses until your character in the game becomes the darling of society.

The topics that are covered by the game include proper etiquette for ceremonial occasions, work, meals or parties, everyday social interaction, as well as for written communication such as letters and emails.

So, for the sake of good manners, grab a copy when it comes out on April 5, and fork over your 3990 (about US 33).
