Default r4ds or m3?

so i've been away and i managed to get myself a brand new pearl white DSL

now i need some advice please!!!

no idea about homebrew and roms so i was just wondering which is a better flash card to start with?

plus whats the biggest memory card out atm? the only ones i've found were 2gb only, how many games do you suppose would fit? are there restrictions on size of card for the r4ds or m3?

thanks girls!

good to be back .

Welcome back Gurly

Wooohooo for picking up a DSL

I have an M3 lite at the moment, but I've looked into the r4ds, and im tempted to get one of them instead.
If you havent got one, then, Id go for the r4ds, as its cheaper, and its all you need, where as m3, you need the passcard as well - which is why it works out more expensive.

Also with r4ds, you can just drag n drop the roms onto them, where as m3, you have to use the m3 game manager to convert them for use on it. Which takes bout 30secs per game, which is fine if its just one, but if you wanna put a load on at a time, takes ages. Thats the main reason I want to get an r4ds.

As for memory card, i found the r4ds can take up to a 4gb card. I think, with my 1gb card, ive got bout 25 roms on it. It depends which roms you put on it. My biggest rom is 128mb, but most are between 30-60mb
I then went to look at m3, and it looks like that can also use a 4gb card - so im off to buy myself one of them lol.

On my lappy, i have 45 roms in me rom folder, and they take up 1.78 GB, so a 2gb card, you're looking at about 50ish roms.

The only thing I havent looked extensively into, is whether the r4ds, can play movies and music and gba roms, like M3 can.
Ive never used it for any of them, but I am looking into gettting some GBA roms, so thats one thing i need to check for myself. Unless anyone else has the answer to that.

Oh, and as for homebrew, thats something I've not tried yet, but, I have downloaded one, or a couple anyway, and they come with the nds extension, like the DS roms, so can just put them in same place as DS roms (idk if you need to convert them on M3 first or not)
