| So, I was wondering what kind of programs you guys use. And which ones you prefer. What do you recommend? What do you dislike? Programs out there: Adobe Photoshop ($600+, $1000+) Corel (formerly JSAC) Paint Shop Pro (Around $80-100) Gimp (free) [Only registered users can see links. ] Paint.net (free) [Only registered users can see links. ] ...plus there might be others. (and maybe I'll find some tuts for you...) |

| I started out with PSPX. I hated it, because I really wanted PS and got the two kinda confused or something like that. I lived with it for awhile. Then I "acquired" PSCS2 ![]() I don't know what I would do without Photoshop. |

| Gamer ![]() | I used to use GIMP 2.0 until I (as xDizzy put it) "aquired" Photoshop CS3, as soon as I got it, my world of Gimp shattered. --------- Gimp is easy and userfriendly, you just need to get used to the buttons as their different to other programs. As it is open source, you can build it up to be quite useful (it starts useful but you get to add the "quite"), I don't even have it installed anymore. Gimp tutorial: Breaking someone's face ![]() Semi-Advanced manipulation: --------- Photoshop (any version) Functions Functions Functions! I would reccomend going for CS3 or CS4 (when its released) as the newer ones are nicer to use and most things come under obvious menus. You can do nearly anything with photoshop from making a simple signature (their not that simple really...) to making a supermodel a man (its true!) Examples of what you can make: Example of a makeover (Beauty is a photoshop effect): --------- Jasc Paintshop PRO personally I think this program si achildish, a baby in comparison to either Gimp or Photoshop, the features are up there but accessibility is kinda low. Good if your going to create images with minimal effects. Does have some nice photo eidting tools though. Photo Editing Example: --------- Just my 2 cents worth, hope it helps. |
