The [Only registered users can see links. ] and [Only registered users can see links. ] games consoles are among the gadgets that consumers in America are particularly keen to buy.
A survey by Solutions Research Group found that three in four (76 per cent) of consumers want to get hold of a digital lifestyle product over the holiday season this year.
HDTVs were found to be the most-desired gadget, but games consoles were very much in high demand too.
While the [Only registered users can see links. ] already has a high penetration rate in North America, the Nintendo Wii was the eighth most popular product desired, with nine per cent of respondents saying they wanted one.
The Sony PS3 was just behind in ninth position, with seven per cent of the vote. Other gadgets that featured in the top ten were a Windows laptop, a digital camera, a GPS navigation system for the car, a digital video camera and a new cell phone.
There was also a slight difference in the way that men and women vote. For men, all three next-gen consoles featured in the top ten list, but for women only the Wii made the cut.
