"Mature" Rated Games Account for Only 6% of Games in 2007

Despite what the mainstream media might think, the amount of games bearing an “M for Mature” rating is actually quite small, according to the ESRB. In 2007, it seems those games intended only for people aged 17 and up accounted for only 6% of the 1,563 games rated by the board. That means around 94 games came out last year with an “M” rating, if I’m doing my math right. That’s actually down from 8% in 2006 and 12% in 2005. On the flipside, games with an “E for Everyone” rating made up 59% of the total number of games. I think we can all figure out what this means: all the “E” rated games are directly responsible for the corruption of society’s youth. Mario’s to blame, people.
