LCD or Plasma

So my wife and I moved into a house finally and I am spending most of my time (while not on the 360) buying furniture and decorating blah blah. But I am going to buy a tv (mainly for my 360) but I also want to get a HD cable box so I can watch football and basically just sports in hi-def. So I need to know should I get a plasma or LCD? I cannot go over $2000 (well I could but we can NEVER tell my wife).

Well I am getting a LCD and I can already see the price drops in ads. I can't wait, now I just need my 360 back

You made a good choice imo . My dad just got a 50" Samsung Plasma which is similar to my 32" Samsung LCD (basically the same design). I love his TV but, I dont see such a huge difference in comparison to my LCD and for the difference in price, Id choose LCD every time and either Samsung or Sony - Samsung is cheaper usually and quality isnt all that far apart from what Ive seen (I had a Sony Bravia 32" LCD too).

the biggest difference between LCD and plasma are how much they catch a glare. LCD's are alittle better for bright rooms, most of them have a screen over teh LCD the reduces glare, plasmas dont, but in a darker room, your gonna have a harder time seeing darked images. So its not which is better, but what will fit better in the room. I just went through the same thing, we ended up going with a plasma.
