Default Re: Xbox360 Fixed by Microsoft......Well and Truly!

they don't even check to see if its flashed or not. its standard procedure when a RROD goes in to just replace the guts and ship it back out. that's why you get a brand new 3 year warranty because you essentially have a brand new console.

as for the drive they sent you was it a lite-on ? if so then it's not a total loss. yes at present it is not flashable

seems its almost there over on xbins is a dvd key grabber for Benq and Lite-on

heres what ive read on x-s

DVD key grabber for Benq and Lite-on

It receives DVDkey from drive serial port and save to file, you need a LVTTL-RS232 converter (max3232) between COM1 (embedded COM1 on motherboard, 0x3F8 IRQ4) and TX RX pins on drive power cable (for liteon the trace to powercable are cut, need a little soldering).
It also saves identify.bin and inquiry.bin, for the spoof lovers.

This "unlocks" also Benq to accept MTK vendor ATA cmds (dosflash etc...), not for liteon

You must power on PC without sata cable connected to drive.
You must poweron the drive with tray half opened and eject switch in open state.
You must power off an on again the drive each time you run the app.

For rs232 troubleshuting, consider that Liteon by default outputs an endless stream of 0x00 and 0x01 at 115200 8N1, you should see it with Realterm with display set to hex

As always, us at your own risk

Program in the usual places...look for "DVDkey"

they recon they can also write to the lite-on so shouldnt be long now before a fall release
heres whats needed if you want to give it a try

there's also a updated drive switcher tool to support lite-on drive's, thatb will allow you to put another drive in the xbox and spoof it to believe replacement drive is a lite-on. but it's not 100 percent reliable yet so i have not posted it up
