Playstation sales have dropped 32% according to mcvuk.  Sales for PSP, PS2 and PS3 declined in the last quarter of 2008 with PS2 taking the sharpest downfall.  PS3 software sales did increase, but the same cannot be said for the PS2 and PSP.

Sony have predicted that they will suffer a loss for it’s fiscal year ending March 31st 2009.

Fable 2 - Review

Posted by Vandorin | 25/01/09 | Tagged Games, Microsoft, News, Xbox 360

fable2

After the first release of Fable, in 2004, gamers were left wanting more. With the release of Fable 2 gamers were left feeling more than fulfilled in this spectacular sequel. You start off as a poor street urchin, with only your sister as your companion. The timeframe is set in the distinct future, and when you explore the city you get to see the creation of new inventions. At the beginning of the game, you have to help out around town to raise money. These adventures range from picking up paper, to beating up a bully. Fable 2 has an amazing environment, as the weather changes quite constantly, and the attention to detail is amazing. Later on in the game, you get to choose from a variety of quests from a soothsayer who looks suspiciously familiar. In the first Fable, they gave you the idea that you could go anywhere at anytime, and do anything you wanted. Although that was limited in some ways, they seem to have accomplished that goal in Fable 2. You can bust up shops, get married, have kids, get a job and make some money, or just walk into a town and kill everything for experience points. Fable 2 delivers an amazing story with characters complimenting the game play every step of the way. You have a faithful dog as your companion as you make your way out into the world, he’ll be there for the good, the bad, and the horribly scary, as this game engrosses your life until you have completed all three endings. Fable 2 also has online multiplayer, where you can physically see the person you are playing online with, and they can interact with you and the world you’ve shaped around you. Fable 2 is a great game that is sure to cater to your every need. Whether it be helping the kind folks of Albion, or buying every building and being declared king, Fable 2 is a game that you won’t surely forget.

Saints Row 2 - Review

Posted by Vandorin | 25/01/09 | Tagged Games, Microsoft, News, PC, PS3, Sony, Xbox 360

saintsrow2box1

The First Saints Row left its audience with a cliffhanger that had even the most hardcore gamer on the edge of their seat. Saints Row 2 picks up where the first one left off, and this time you can fully customize your character. You can pick what their faces look like, what kind of clothes they wear, and even their voice! Saints Row 2 also has the addition of some new weapons. Early on in the game you have a chance to grab some pepper spray, which when sprayed at anyone makes them double over and gag for a brief period. The style of game play in Saints Row 2 is pretty much the same as in the first one; you do a mission, and then have to do mini missions to fill up your experience bar and then complete more missions. It feels a little bit like a “grinding” leveling game, where you have to constantly work to get the amazing cut scenes, but each mini mission provides it’s own entertainment value, whether it is racing a favorite car of yours, or activation the hydraulics in a monster truck, and flying over rocks and rival gangs. The cut scenes and characters in Saints Row 2 have been drastically improved, expressions are amazingly detailed, and the characters look like real people; and each character acts the same whether they are in the cut scene or in the passenger side of your car, shooting at police or rival gang members. Saints Row 2 also includes online multiplayer; only in this multiplayer, you actually see the person you are playing with, and they can help you do missions and get experience. Saints Row 2 provides a feeling that your character really is a hardcore gangster, who no one can best, and although some parts are difficult, in the end it is worth it, when cops come flooding into your streets, and you’ve got two pistols in your hand and a neighborhood full of people willing to defend you, you feel like you truly are the badass man in town.

WII WARE - ALIEN CRUSH - REVIEW

STORY: 6/10
(Alien Crush starts good!  They start describing the situation (you’ll see that below).  Like something out of  a Si-fi movie.  You may be led to believe this game will be a good first person shoooter or something.  But that idea dies pretty quickly…once the game starts…)

“Several years have passed since humans first journeyed into the stars. One day a lone space craft of unknown origins entered the solar system. Responding to what was a possible threat, the planetary federation dispatched a military transport carrying an elite squad of elite marines to investigate the intruder. Intercepting the alien ship as it drifted in orbit around one of Jupiter’s moon. The transport docked with the mysterious vessel. The marines began their investigation. Little did they know the horrors awaiting them…”

New Halo 3 Foundry Variant Map

Posted by Bex | 21/01/09 | Tagged Games, Microsoft, News, Xbox 360

team-slayer-smashed

Halo 3 players may have noticed a new map on rotation while playing Team Slayer. The new map is a variant of Foundry called Smashed.

Smashed appears to be a Forge made Foundry map by A Glacier. The actual map was created back in June 2008 but it seems to have only made it to the playlist today.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up if you get to play on this map though as gameplay isn’t that great. Lines of sight is terrible and the map is unbalanced. While the rocket launcher can be found in the middle, one side of the map benefits from a sniper rifle, while the other side of the map is left with a plasma rifle. View the various angles of Smashed below.

It looks like Nintendo had a good week last week as three of their games are in the top ten all-format chart.  Miraculously ‘Wii Fit’ has managed to jump three places and has taken the number one spot at the end of last week.  This means that previous champion ‘Fifa 09′ now sits at four due to ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ sitting tight at number two, and the new entry ‘Lord of The Rings: Conquest’ coming straight in at number three.  ‘Quantum of Solace’ no longer sits in the top ten as it managed to fall four places at the end of last week and now sits at number thirteen.   Tkae a look below at the top ten games in the UK for week ending 17th January 2009.

It really isn’t funny. A mother calls her son to dinner over and over then driven to despair when he still won’t peel himself from his Xbox 360 controller, she rushes upstairs and unplugs his 360.  The result? A shove, a taco to the face and the kid calling his own mother a ‘retard’. It isn’t funny in any way. The kid is in Jail and noone, not even a mother, should ever switch off a 360 mid game!

Seriously, this kid is the one acting like ‘a retard’ he’s a 19 year old man with some serious issues, according to the story posted in the Orlando Sentinel. The boy, Zach Moir and his mother live in Deltona, Florida and the photo above is his actual mugshot. Mug indeed.

It’s time to learn some respect boy and hopefully jail will help you along the way. Apart from anything else, that Taco went to waste and there are starving children in the world. Charged with domestic violence battery - real life just came calling for this gamer.
